Turn On The Tele!

Normally I'm not much of a TV watcher. I have a hard time getting interested in the shows that are on. Why bother to turn it on? I never had a reason to until my dear, sweet aunt of mine introduced me to Dr. Who and The Ricky Gervais Show.

I've heard this show mention a thousand times up at Iowa State. Evidently it's very popular around the design community. I never thought to give it a try until my aunt turned it on one night. The actor who plays "The Doctor" is the last of the time lords. With his phone booth time machine he travels through time and sets things right. The series originated during the 70's and the actor was definitely not the one seen above. When the first Dr. career was coming to an end, the writers put in a twist to the story that the Dr. could regenerate himself each time he came near to death. After each regeneration he would look different, have different quirks, and have little changes in personality. All his past experiences and memories would stay intact.

Due to a recent Dr. change, a new story arc has started and made it easy for blokes like myself to get into the show. Each episode shows off the experience the writers have. With a beautiful blend of suspense and comedy, I've got my eyes glued every Saturday night.

The Ricky Gervais Show

When the premise of the show is "An animated talk podcast" you don't expect much. The three of hosts read questions sent to them by fans and the answers you get always seem to end up light years away from where you started. One of the hosts in particular has quite the scatter brain. In the video below you'll see what I mean as Karl Pinkerton elaborates on his grand idea of rebirth.

I believe that the fact that the show is animated is a huge factor in why it is so popular. The funny caricatures and the hilarious explanatory drawings make this show a great watch.

Summer Lovin', Kickin My Ass

In an attempt to afford my new apartment, this summer I have taken up two jobs. I'm still serving up the "za" most days out of the week. Just a hop, skip, and a no handed lander away, you'll find my new place of work.

The one and only Tshirt Cafe

Tshirt Cafe is still a pretty new business. I pretty much get paid to do my hobby. Cool right? The shirts that people order may not be the most beautiful works of art. I could think of a couple shirts that might have made me hurt a little inside to make. I do my best to guide some in a better direction, but seeing as I'm no expert, they're allowed to do what they want with my opinion. Some people just want bad shirts. Let them have it!

When not at work, I'm usually slaving away on World of Warcraft (If you're ever in Greymane, look me up) until the wee hours of the morning. When I'm not defending Lordaeron, I'm talking to my most favorite gal in the world. Factoring in the days I work and the distance between us, visits are far and few in between. Twill be all fine once the summer comes to an end and the apartment living starts.

I Can Haz Munnys?

Once again I headed out to Denver, CO to hang out with Erin and Jesse for spring break.
As soon as I arrived for what I'm going to start to call "The Denver Annual", Jesse and Erin had a craft project ready to go. They are called Munnys. What are Munnys you say?

They are small, animal like figures that come in various shapes and colors. We got blank ones so we could customize them. Each came with it's own prop to work with.

Due to random selection, I was given the purple guy. Below is the work in progress.

Love for the Little Ones

A new shirt was needed and Lily was in need. I delivered with her very own mini EPIC LAN '09 shirt. Wasn't the cleanest of designs (the original design wasn't available)but it worked out just fine. The next line up is the robot seen below. Let me know if you would like one. Sadly my class has ended and now I am going to have to charge extra for ink and what not. I will strive to keep quality high and cost low!

Topless? I've got you covered.

Recently I got myself into a screen printing class to satisfy an old curiosity. By the third lesson I already sold a shirt! This is seriously something I would enjoy wasting my life on. Thanks to Jesse Hunsaker for the monster design and (hopefully) the robot. The monster design proved to be a pain in the neck as I didn't want to fit on one screen with the robot design. "Why not tilt them and fit them both?" I said and did. Getting the design straight and centered on the t-shirt was damn near impossible, but 2 t-shirts, a couple of practice shirts provided by the class, 6 pieces of practice paper, and you get one awesome shirt that went to Val for a low low price. I kept one of the mistakes and smeared ink all over it and called it art. I still have another mistake that I'd be willing to part with.

I will continue to include print designs in future blog post and (maybe) have it's own section/blog. Until then, if you see a design you like, let me know and I'll make one for you real cheap!
